About the Author: Traver Freeman

So you've been reading this blog for awhile and you realize that you have no idea who writes these things. What's his name? What does he look like? Is it even a guy? Well now you no longer have to wonder because you've found your way to this page.

My name is Traver Freeman. In 2013, I graduated from Pensacola Theological Seminary with my Master of Divinity. My wife and I were on our way heading to Australia as missionaries when life circumstances plus the Australian government put that on hold. Now we live in San Diego, CA, serving in our church Shadow Mountain Community Church. So now you're thinking, "Hold up, wait a moment. This guy has a Bible degree and is talking about missions. How does this make him an expert on media and digital graphics?" Well that's because of my extensive background in digital graphics.

I spent 3 years in High School learning Graphic Communications. I have two PrintED certifications and was the valedictorian of my vocational school in 2006. In college, I was a Graphic Design major for one year, and then God called me into the ministry. I changed my major to Pastoral Ministries, but I didn't throw out my graphics training, instead completing a minor in Graphic Design.

For the next three years I was in charge of the Yearbook department and the lead Graphic Designer at Pensacola Christian Academy. Currently, I work at MGX Copy in San Diego, a national printing company, as one of their lead prepress specialists. I see hundreds of church flyers, brochures, and posters every month, many of them downright terrible. It's this persistent problem of bad church marketing that this project is intended to solve.

Combine the above with my knowledge of church operations, purpose, and vision, and I know how to best implement media into our churches to the glory of God. I hope that you enjoy this blog and will consider contributing your comments and opinions to help make this one of the best resources for churches looking to improve their media ministries.
